Hawks - where does this rate in your metal release chart for 2024? Top 20? Top 10? Top 5?

It is good. So atmospheric and hypnotic, just what I love from the guy.

Still like Im Wald the most, but this is probably my second fave.

Gyro, I like a lot of 'strong ambience' metal like this - it's got to the point with 'modern metal' that about 75% of the time I consider it an 'atmospheric genre', a lot of the song writing leaves minimal impact on me. Recent stuff I've found interesting like Bell Witch, Coldworld, Blut Aus Nord, Esoctrilihum - I'd say the atmospherics are my absolute favourite component.

Saying that, song structures are decent enough on this though.

Yeah this is pretty much ambient music, but I love ambient so that's fine.

I made the Darkspace comparison because there seems to be more emphasis on big chunky power chords and spacy lead guitar than usual. Though tbf Schattengang and Steineiche from the 90s had that doomy low-tuned stuff too.

you know im in deep with this black metal stuff because i genuinely kinda think they got too cleanly produced since starting with this "official" full lengths business

even though the guitars are still basically incomprehensible in the mix lol, the blizzard vibes gotta be absolute

Still better than Im Wald (which I assume means I'm cold or I'm waldo though I've not bothered to check)

is it blasphemy to say I'm lowkey cool with this potentially being the last Paysage album? I feel like the discog is a complete journey.

yeah I wish more artists ended on a high note

And he's made his statement.

This is hitting me like razor hail though I actually prefer the more hi fi production
