one of the more generous 4s i've given recently, probably more of a 3-3.5 but i'm giving it a *potential* 4 since porter's my boy. i definitely feel pretty let down by this one, especially compared to Nurture which is straight up one of my favorite albums ever. First 2 tracks, especially Cheerleader, carry this thing hard. i know some people felt the "faux sincerity" of Nurture was eyeroll-worthy (which is fucking dumb and if you think this youre a turd) but i really, vastly preferred that to the half-baked post-ironic thing he's got going on here. i don't mind that as a rule, but Nurture was so refreshing specifically *because* it felt like an escape from the irony-poisoned uber online self referential pop that's become so prevalent lately.

Yeah it's not quite a 4 for me either, more like a 3.8 or 75. And Nurture is definitely more impactful and substantial, but it is so much fun.
And Russian Roulette and Cheerleader have joined Mirror and Infinity as his greatest ever.
Time will tell though... Nurture has only matured over time. Will Smile?
