the production on Proper Dose sounds better suited to what they're going for. this mostly feels like a direct follow up to that so it's hard to not compare
but as far as songwriting goes, i think this is better from front to back

Parker’s vocals sounding strange on the closer, yeah? Can’t put my finger on it. Might be weird editing

Man, this thing rules. It takes everything I like about pre-The Wonder Years pop-punk and approaches it with the same sorta maturity and consideration that Blink showed on their self-titled. Some songs sound straight off that album, and I mean that in a good way. This feels like a very autumn-y record
Also, will say that while I was jamming I searched "The Story So Far allegations" as I do with every pop-punk band and completely forgot that he dropkicked a girl. It's genuinely shocking that typing any pop-punk band's name with the word allegations turns something up

Watch You Go is the best song on the album and it’s not even close.

I mean I don’t think “allegations” really have anything to do with him booting that girl off the stage. Probably wasn’t the best judgment call yeah, but nowhere near equatable to sexual abuse / rape.

not nearly as bad as parker employing a rapist as no pressure's drummer yeah
as such my interest in this is completely gone tbh

pop punk giving black metal a strong run for its money on the controversy front

Yeesh didn't know that.
Parker kicking that girl off stage is certainly far from the most egregious thing that's happened in the pop-punk world, but it reeks of the toxic atmosphere that's really turned me away from pop-punk the older that I get. Thankfully, I don't get the vibe from the music itself with this album but a lot of pop-punk is an uphill proposition for me

4 days into this thread and someone finally mentioned the dropkick video. You guys don't disappoint.

I love the dropkick video. Very pop punk of them.
Listened to this on my walk to work this morning. It was real nice on first listen, but a bit unaffecting. Will have to give it a few more listens. Disclaimer: have never been a big fan, but love The Wonder Years.

the dropkick was pathetic and anyone who defends that shit is a fucking loser
