Indeed.

Beth has always had the soul.

Whack it over slow, wading through treacle beats and rhythms you’ll find greatness.

Stick it on folky twanging and you’ll find what it was born for.

Portishead for what they are/were and what they bring to the table are greater though.

Definitely, Portishead are unique and indispensable whereas this is just high quality solo maturity of the sort you’d expect (nothing wrong with that)

This narrowly edges Lenker for my favourite folk release of 24

I like that wincing thing Beth does when she’s crooning.

Like she’s having a bowel twinge.

'This narrowly edges Lenker for my favourite folk release of 24'

Other way round for me so far but I can definitely respect that opinion, two of the best folk albums of recent years

Nothing overly wrong with RYM just a lot of normies with virtually identical taste, you click their 5s and it's always The Beatles, Black Country, New Road , Bjork, Frank Ocean, Pink Floyd and Slint

Slint? Hmm somewhat unexpected, cool

Johnny mentions getting 'pilled' so much I'm convinced his life revolves around a crippling dependency on prescription meds
