"You just sparked something in me. I know I did a deep dive on this a few years back and the math gets a lot more complex quickly on this. If I recall right the whole $ per stream thing doesn't work out as simply as spotify opponents would like it to. I will see if I can find what I am referring to though."
1,000 streams from Spotify will net you $4 vs 1k streams from Tidal will earn $12.84. 1mil on Tidal will earn $12,840 vs Spotify's $4-7,000 payout. Also worth noting that Spotify will no longer pay artists who have less than 1k streams per song. RIP to the $40 I've earned. Curious to hear what you find. I hate streaming services and don't use any of them (Bandcamp + an Ipod of my entire music library) but ideally artists would be earning as much as possible from these predatory companies.

RIP Steve Albini.....
I love some of the lesser known albums he helped to produce back in the day.

His production credits are just insane.

I always thought of Steve as "what if Rivers was cool?".

I know this is a difficult conversation to have, but can we all talk about how this pales in comparison to every Shellac album that preceded it? If I ignore everything surrounding this release and its timing, I’m not particularly impressed so far

Only, it’s literally as good as all their other albums, bar Italian greyhound which is my fave. What makes this slightly more appealing is that it’s a lot shorter than their other albums; so if you’re after a quick fix, this feels like it’s the obvious go-to.

It is not by any means outstanding by Shellac's standards, but taken out of the context in which it was released, I'd say it's very refreshing.

Yeah, without leaning into the posthumously released aspect of this LP, I think every other album is better than this apart from Greyhound, which I'd say is about equal.

Good album

I think their better material is fairly evenly spread amongst their discog, with the exception of At Action Park, which is clearly their best
idk, might be wrong, but I can’t see myself revisiting this much through a lack of standout moments

Finally getting around to this and I somewhat feel Demon's sentiment, except I am loving the highs. Some stuff definitely plays too Shellac-by-the-numbers tho. Going out on a song called 'I Don't Fear' Hell' is also hard af

I think some of the tracks here are among their best, regardless of Albini's passing. Some songs might have benefited from being longer and exploring a little more but I like how concise and to the point this record is and that's one of it's strongest assets for me. No time to grow stale, only a quick slap to the face and on to the next track.

This is probably a 3.5 but after three listens it hasn’t done much for me so far

Yeah Doof, this is somewhere between a 3 and a 3.5
The guitar and bass tone are amazing, as a project it's just not that ambitious though
