I don’t care what anyone says, Eye for an Eye beats ass lol. Guilty pleasure maybe but that shit goes hard and I love it.
That said, they’ve never been an album band for me which is why I don’t listen to them much. They always have like 3-4 heaters and that’s it. In fact because of that I typically prefer their EPs

this is prob my fav release from them so far. I dunno. I kind of dip in and out of these dudes.

Crazy hearing this is the og emarosa in retrospect but I always admire the dedication to the craft.
This honestly was pretty solid! I might even jam it a second time for fun at work, high praise that. Took them a while but they went from forgettable to enjoyable.

Am I crazy or do some of the heavy parts sound like Counterparts

I was getting more of a Polaris vibe off it then counterparts

This is the best they’ve ever sounded.

It's a good album but I'm very surprised by the good reception here haha
Not sold on it fully yet, there are some good moments but some parts tend to be a little bit samey and blend together, maybe a couple more spins before I'll rate it

@bellovddd I don’t think it’s too far off to hear Counterparts here, but I think it’s less soundalike and more minor emulation. Their recent output gives me the impression that they really WANT to be categorized with those more “serious” or intense acts, but can’t escape the kiddie choruses that long-term fans probably expect. Some technical sections sound so meticulously and mechanically crafted that they come across as ham fisted as their clean choruses.
Fluorescent White off the previous album is probably their best attempt at that sound and their best song imo.

fluorescent white is the first song of theirs ever where i was like "yknow maybe you guys could be something one day"
"Their recent output gives me the impression that they really WANT to be categorized with those more “serious” or intense acts, but can’t escape the kiddie choruses that long-term fans probably expect" [2]. i hear the counterparts pepperings too

first two tracks go pretty hard. my only complaint is that it kinda feels slightly unoriginal at times, but i totally get why they are getting some attention now. wayy better than the shit they used to make

Garden Wall and Gone Without a Trace are pretty rad. I've always been a fan of his vocals and he sounds pretty great here.
Agree some of the choruses are meh, but they aren't super grating at least. Just feel a little shoehorned in at times.

It makes me really happy to see so many people digging this record. This band has had it's fair share of ups and downs but I love seeing them riding a high with this sort of creative resurgence over the last few years
