there are zero people on Sputnik who haven’t made up their mind with regard to this argument, and it’s been that way for years

Digital albums have been $10-12 for years and Pool is only slightly more. I'm just not seeing how the price is such a big deal when this has been standard practice. Digital tracks are typically $1 as well and you get 18. Skee is also an exception to this and not the rule.

I think that’s totally reasonable yeah

“yep, or at least use a streaming platform to have a peek first (which apparently is unethical, lmao)”
this is literally what i do and ive never claimed anything to the contrary. the point is that I know streaming is unethical and is exploiting artists so i pay them what they are owed when i can, especially if they refuse to participate which is 100% reasonable and understandable.
the only thing im arguing against is being fucking annoying about it and complaining that you can’t consume whatever you want whenever you want at your convenience. the only reason you’re arguing this hard is because you know it’s wrong and the cognitive dissonance is causing your brain to short out.
again, entertainment is a luxury. you are not entitled to it and you aren’t owed convenience to consume it.

I will say at 1$ per song, shit adds up really fast if you want any kind of collection/selection. I look back on my iTunes days and I must’ve spent like 500 some dollars on 50 albums, some of which I didn’t like or listen to. I think that model comes off as outdated for most people.
100$ a year for basically whatever music you want is a really good deal compared to 10$ per album.

and I am in a financial position where a good deal is what matters most to me, as much as I would love to support artists I gotta support me first

i prefer 9 to this one but this one still bangs. 9 just has such palpable nighttime vibes and i'm a sucker for that stuff

Just bought this today for Bandcamp Friday. Crazy how much this rules!

final two on this are too good mmmhm
9 rocks dub floatation harder than this and is therefore better, but these beats are winning me over

I've only heard 4 of his releases so far. All rule. I'd say just dive into Pool. I know Compro is well regarded too but I haven't heard it yet.

Start with Compro or Resort imo

I should probably jam Compro right now since I'm going down a Skee Mask rabbit hole.
|

Pool is the one to start with imo, Resort is misrepresentative (though v blissed) and Compro too hit or miss. Shred or ISS009 would be the other best entry points
