I dunno what it is about Talbot but there's always an element of contrivance that I find too distracting; I can control it with other bands but not this lot. This is just another IDLES record, like it's ok but that's all. I have a feeling if I listened to Crawler again I'd drop the score

yeah a little bit disappointed with this one after one lesson, but I don’t think it’s bad

It's good but for sure missing the grit/high octane FUN of their other albums imo. Def worth revisiting for the cool moments it does have but I was a lil disappointed tbh.

Roy has one of the most obnoxious choruses I've heard in a long time. Absolutely horrid

Overall though, it's not..bad just very unmemorable. This doesn't have a lasting impact like their first two albums

Kind of a wasted opportunity because on occasion i like the quality of Talbot's voice when not in punk mode - Godrich was right, it would be interesting hearing him sing more...but a lot of these songs aren't quite right

Just over halfway through. I agree that Joe's a good singer, but the passion is really lacking in the arrangements. Makes for an altogether milquetoast experience with some bright spots. I'm anticipating a 2.5 or just barely a 3, if I even remember to finish it.

IDLES have achieved legacy band status in record time. Every 3 years they'll release an album no one cares about as an excuse to tour. Their setlist in 2024 will be the same as their 2030 setlist, except the 5 slots saved for each track from the new album. Well done lads.

We’re talking about this band as if they didnt write Beachland Ballroom 3 years ago if they can get their head outta their ass theyll be fine

Beachland Ballroom is certainly one of their best songs, but Crawler as a whole was packed with filler.

I liked the new direction they took with Crawler, it’s a fun record, no real fillers there. Ultra Mono had huge bangers, but overall they hit a dead end with that one after their first two records. Not sure where they wanted to head now.
