Ashes of the Wake and As the Palaces Burn are far superior in the riff department, but this still holds its own with stuff like that insane riff at the end of Redneck.

I just picked this up yesterday and I must say that this is the best Lamb of God record comparing this to the other 4 albums they have out (including Burn the Priest). The groove, the use of more solos, the technicallity of their rhythms make this a refreshing listen considering how smoothly they put all of this together. Easily on my top 10 list for 2006. Oh ya, great review too.

i think this album was a HUGE step for lamb of god with there guitar playing. even the vocals are somewhat better...although ive always like blythe's vocals alot. i always think shadowsfallen does great reviews on everything...although i tend to disagree sometimes...for example...criticisms to trivium and shadows fall...BUT...this is a well thought through awesome review!

Redneck used to really annoy me but I'm starting to like it a whole lot more. It's got some great riffs in it and flows really well.

This album is continually growing on me. I love the Lamb of God of old so it is taking some time to get used to the new style/sound. I am glad that they did not change up too much and that they still kick ASS!.

P.S. At about 3:40 in Blacken The Cursed Sun I get an Opeth type feel for that riff. Anyone agree? This Message Edited On 08.23.06

I just bouth the extreme ultimate armageddon version of the album with the DVD so I'm hoping it will sound even better that way.

You guys gatta understand that Adler and Morton are not Alexi Laiho. They are not all about the melodic lead guitar stuff mostly. Their job is to keep writing those catchy metal riffs. Be excited that they are using more solos now, only means that they are gannna keep getting better. Truth be told.

I always felt Lamb of God's style on Ashes of the Wake was the most raw and natural sound for them. I kind of wish they would go back to them.

This album is good, there just isn't anything that sticks out to me, like there was when I first heard Ashes of the Wake. The intricate guitar and drums working in unison with a unique song structure in Blood of the Scribe was great.

I do hate a lot of the leads in the songs though. The solo in Walk with Me in Hell should have been left out. You have this agressive in your face song, and then this melodic type solo with a lot of bends, which seems to lack aggression. This Message Edited On 08.24.06

How can you say that the guitarists have finally realized their potential as shredders? To whose standards?.. yours? Metal isn't all suppose to sound the same. This is Lamb of fucking God, not Children of Bodom, not Behemoth.. L O G. Comparing it to their other work, it's damn good. Might be alittle more on the lines of Metalcore with this album but all the same it's still Lamb of God and it still sounds like kick ass heavy fuckin American metal. To everyone who asked if they should check this out or not, I say why the fuck not?

I can't seem to adapt myself to their new sound! I prefer the more raw sound of their previous work! This album has a too different dark atmosphere for my likings

For me this new album is nowhere as good as there last one AOTW, for me they sound to different, and redneck sound's like pantera, it's just not lamb of god.
