I feel like the main problem I have with this is it all kind of blends together and not in a good way. I can barely differentiate much between each track and it feels kind of disjointed. However, all that being said, I think the title track is utterly phenomenal and if they created more tracks like that I'd be singing a completely different tone. I am only one listen in though so upon further ones maybe I'll like this a bit more

"It's still hitting pretty hard for me and I think there are a lot of creative ways that they keep the momentum going without sounding rote or monotonous"

yeah, I'm not understanding this at all. It's very one note and monotonous at times. Muddy, indistinct, heavy and 'menacing' but not a lot else. I mean the opening track may as well not exist, it's one bland riff extended for minutes on end with little variation. The moments where they up the tempo offer contrast, cool. 'Shame' is decent for this reason. But when you have a similar constant mid-tempo-ish dirge and suffocating heaviness without respite, then it all just bleeds into one and becomes rather tiresome

Honestly, this isn't quite as terrible as I'd first thought, but I remain convinced it has way too much empty space and not enough variation or colour

Started jamming the first track, and sensed a latent industrial vibe.

it does but it very rarely gets as intense as some tracks on the first record

hmm yeah this has opened up a bit, but is not grabbing me at all

don't even think the answer had to be more variation - pretty clear that their vision for this album is hostile to this - but their take on ye olde dissonant sludge-out do be overbearing and stale

"yall should try the new crippling alcoholism."

old comment but lol. Yeah, I realise you're not advocating meth usage, yet in the context of the thread it kinda does read that way

so are they musically similar? Was gonna check for reasons, but dunno if I want anything too close in style to this
