This may be true, but the stylistic nuances on Amnesiac had a novelty-factor, which this album lacks. But I’ll keep on with the forced listens, which I wouldn’t do for any new & upcoming band.

Fantano gave this an 8 so y'all can boost your ratings now.

If Radiohead released it it'd be a 4.5. ;-)

I’m steadfast in my opinion because I ain’t no sheep, Fantano can do one

I thought Moon was distinctly average too, so not sure why it being a Radiohead release would matter. This is very close to a continuation of Radiohead, let’s be honest now.

Only decent Thom release since TKOL is / was Anima

I was 100% kidding about it being better if it was Radiohead.

But considering how much this has grown on me, I do wish it fell under the Radiohead name to add to their legacy. This is wonderful.

wonder how their sound would actually differ if they had the whole band on here

I’m sure you were Sow. I was mainly wondering why anyone cares about Fantano, no-one likes a snarky walrus, lol…

thought that was more for the RYM crew (probably why the feedback for this is so positive on there, haha)

or maybe the younger demographic is desperately searching for their generation’s OKC or something?

I blame the walrus. I mean you’re attempting to mock someone who’s seen one image and zero videos

I just find it weird that he has this sort of cult following I guess (I’d find it weird whoever they were, nothing personal)

the only thing worse than ******* is people reminding me ******* exists through any discussion of it, positive or negative, on unrelated music sites

we do not need to acknowledge the existence of it

it is not your god or your devil

it does not need to occupy our time

this is not a meaningful battle

this is a not a substitute for beneficial stress

starve it entirely

he’s no more good or bad than most any other popular taste maker - more people are still influenced by Scaruffi…or Pitchfork…or whoever else

people now overstate his influence, think his relevance is on the wane anyway

This has been going on for years now. 1975? fucking ridiculous.

"we do not need to acknowledge the existence of it"

unfortunately these kinds of arguments do not hold up for figures who are too big to fail

"more people are still influenced by Scaruffi…or Pitchfork…or whoever else"

this is just delusional given the relative audience sizes involved. you could argue that proportionally fewer people tune into fantano specifically for his taste/brand, as opposed to Whatever New Thing Is Being Covered, but as a discovery pipeline his impact dwarfs Scaruffi (lol) and will clearly survive p4k (RIP)

Any anger towards him is fired by jealousy. And any admiration is naivety. He’s got some good insights, and sometimes he’s talking gibberish. He can be entertaining, but he won’t change music. If you think he’s got impact, you’re wrong.

I like Fantano's videos even though I usually don't agree with his scores

In this case he was dead on, though.

Seen ‘em come, seen ‘em go. He’s but one man, could get run over by a bus tomorrow. Even the most hip cat becomes passé in time. I still see more accounts on RYM influenced by Scaruffi than the melon and pitchfork will probably reinvent and outlast Fantano - they are just the media platform that invested most strongly in a woke narrative and even the most patient readers are fatigued as that narrative asks so much of an audience, it’s exhausting, when they ease up on that they’ll probably recover.

If Fantano is anything see how popular and important his legacy is in 15 years. Then we’ll know.

I don’t think the RYM charts even show Fantano’s taste that much now really- the famed ‘rating boost’ his high scores encourage seem to be less a thing by the year

Funniest thing is if anyone out there is thinking of becoming a music influencer to become rich…don’t. He’s the top of the game and worth…(sad drum roll)…$1.5 million dollars

That’s peanuts for effectively the top in his industry/field. My house is almost worth that, what a dead end.
