"people on this site think you shouldn’t call an album bad because you think it’s bad"

I mean it's just annoying and doesn't provide anything worth discussing on a site dedicated to music discussion. If you feel the neccesity to comment on an album you don't like, then maybe talk about why you think it's "bad" or "boring" is all. Otherwise just comes off as some weird moral ground to tell people you don't like it.

Like Demon on the second page had a great reply, even if I disagree about the atmosphere, I understand what he means by it lacking *depth*

Ok, early attempt at a 'favourite Yorke since Radiohead' comp (obviously it doesn't flow like an album because very different recording intentions for each project but whatever):

1. Twist

2. Pana-vision

3. Read the Room

4. Suspirium

5. Dawn Chorus

6. Daily Battles

7. Free in the Knowledge

8. Bending Hectic

9. The Axe

10. Unmade

11. Skrting on the Surface

Will play it through a few times but have a feeling that within those song ideas/melodies there's a 5 level quality of material if it were on the one release :/

I prefer 'Read the Room' by quite a lot so far...this is still growing a bit more each listen though, you could well be right

Fair fair, I do love Read the Room too

Read the Room, Teleharmonic, and Bending Hectic are stand outs

That slow build on Teleharmonic is so satisfying as the drums and Thom's voice get louder and louder and more sounds are textured in mmmm

for me this album takes everything i didn't like about amsp and cranks it up a notch. minimal drums, sterile atmosphere, and thom sleeptalking most of the vocals over johnny's film score scraps. (terribly reductive but these guys are capable of so much better)

will concede bending hectic is pretty great tho.

I guess I'd rather have this Thom over You Will Never Work in Television... because it just doesn't work for him imo

I would hate for them to repeat form or song structure, but I wish this album had a piece like "Free in the Knowledge" or "Pyramid Song" or something a little bit more hauntingly moody. But the album itself is pretty solid.

Cool playlist idea Doof and those selections are probably what I'd choose, would just add Open the Floodgates. The Smoke and Speech Bubbles are close too.

Speech Bubbles rules. My hot take is Teleharmonic is The Smile's best song period
