This blew me away when it came out and now it’s completely unmemorable… what happened?

Primacy bias took hold when this first released. Actually really great. Best prog metal album in recent memory, besides Tesseract. Sure, there could have been more epic instrumental tracks, but most vocal tracks hit pretty hard. My only real one I still don't love is The Lesser Evil, it feels a bit too up beat for the bands usual more dramatic subdued pastiche.

@Tundra Yeah, I still think this is a pretty triumphant release. For how encompassing and grand it is though, it really is missing a lot of staying power

Had to change rating to a 2.5. It's just "fine." I respect the attempted grandiosity and pushing forward more with the guest-musician idea, but too much of this album falls flat or is wholly irrelevant//not cohesive. Probably victims of "just because you can doesn't mean you should" here.

This leftover song is awesome, kinda 'standard' Earthside. I love the piano in the middle, the whole song is more on the post-rock side, very enjoyable.

I was actually thinking about the shift between Dream and Truth and how their debut was more of a post rock album where as the newer one leaned more heavily on prog. I think that's why I liked the new one a little more but they're both really solid albums. I was trying to figure out where I would have put the new single on their last album and didn't really have a good answer.

Kek. Exceedingly mid. Arguably it's not even mid, I think lots of people (myself included) just can't bear to rate it lower than mid.
