Yep 100% with you on the sameyness.
"1 did NOT prepare me for 2 at all" you can be a great singer technically and still sing utterly boring and uninspired sounding shit. I s2g he sings like 3 melodies this whole record, he's got like one long-held note little melodic minor dip that he does. Some of his more raw melodic harshes he hadn't really done before sound sick and i'd love to hear more of that, his stratosphere high falsetto sounds laughably bad.
Nothing happened at any point in this record that made it stand out from any other point in this record, there were very very few moments in the see of just ~general heavily produced djent sounds~ that made me raise an eyebrow and go oh that's cool, or bob my head along to a catchy and fun moment or fucking anything at all.
"Bro, you gave the new Aviations album a 5. Don't act like you know what boring is. "
yep, where songwriting is exactly where this album falls flat on its face, it's specifically where Aviations shines and are refreshing. If you had anything to say other than 'you don't like the album i like so I'm gonna shit on the one you like hah' I might have more to add for you but you don't, so die mad I guess.

Ashe is great but I just honestly didn't get that same emotion I get from someone like Daniel or Spencer Sotelo so there's a little bit of a disconnect for me.
feels like a lot of people might just want tesseract to drop the atmospherics and ambient moments. Sacrifice to me is a VIBEEEEEE

1.5ing this is absolutely ridicolous honestly. It doesn't have to click with you by any means but I feel like most of the negative comments on here are solely motivated by prejudice towards "djent" (which doesn't fucking mean anything, by the way).

To me that's the whole point of the band which is probably why I'm digging this so much.

I just can't take any rating or review seriously that gives this album a score below a 3.. like even if you don't like the album and have serious problems with the album, objectively how can you give this album a rating that represents "poor" or "very poor"
Man, sometimes the ratings on this site are totally whack

Nah, it's just the one-dimensional type folks going out of their way to rage-rate artists they dislike because ragey ragey bad bad, sidestepping that it... simply isn't their kinda thing.
The people are different, the artists are different, but it's always the same compulsive fumbling.

lmao do you want a 250 page paper on why this is textbook bad songwriting or
Literally it's fine if you like it but these reactions to criticism are embarrassing.

Came into this as a fan, I enjoyed War of Being well enough as a single if a bit overlong, I was happy to see them moving that direction from the last two which while I enjoyed it felt like they put them out back to back and there wasn't much difference there, could prob make one great album from the best of Polaris and Sonder.
Absolutely no track on this album provides me with anything I didn't already get from the 11 mins of title track. Instrumentally it's some of the most boring djent by numbers chug and dundaDUN daDUN daDUN I could imagine. Even Amos managis not to really shine on this record, only maybe standout from anything is Burden which is nice enough but the Amos part sounds like a recycled riff by this point and it's otherwise just nice enough. And God that falsetto Dan keeps doing is so bad pls stop.
The production is huge but I highly disagree that it's slick, the last two records were slick as hell and made each instrument shine, must of this sounds like a big fuzzed out wall of dj0nt.
Perfect example of why heavier and longer =/= better.
There's not really anything on this album that I hate but not much stands out to love either. A 2.5-possible 3 if I listen to it enough to grow. I feel like it could be trimmed down to like a 20 minute EP and be just as good or probably better.
Woops sorry I meant I am the biggest Tesseract hater alive I woke up today so fucking excited to kick down the door of this thread and tell all the dumb idiots their aoty sucks. Couldn't possibly be a single other criticism here that would be crazy.

Sacrifice is also probably the only other stand out here, I'd cut many other songs first just because it at least provides something a little different, probably one of my fav standalone tracks here, just doesn't save a boring album

hmm idk its nice to hear them make music with some balls again but i also felt this was just as homogenous and clunky as all their other post-2013 music while giving up what made them unique in the process
