^ Hate to validate a Colton mixing comment but I have to agree about the low vocal mixing, in fact I think that’s making it a lot harder for me to really connect with the songwriting here. It all sounds really good and I like moments in every song but most of it isn’t quite sticking with me or leaving a real impression.

"I think the drumming is phenomenal and tasteful on every Protomartyr release, but there were too many rim clicks in the album for me? Idk, I just feel like every hit should should be a drum or a cymbal when it’s not some kind of chamber music or jazz, so I’m probably biased."
i didn't notice in my first 20 listens but sure enough yea, it's used a lot. cool observation! i don't mind it personally

“ double d listens to vivaldi and paganini”
I just feel like Double D would listen to post-punk, ska, and no wave on his Vespa

It's just what my EAR WANTs. Idk what else to say, man. I think rim clicks are kinda cheesy in most contexts, like slap bass or cow bell but not as bad. Or like China cymbals in modern metalcore, for vastly different reasons. But yeah, when I hear rim clicks on rock or metal albums, I always tend to think they could have hit something with more oomph. Just my personal taste.

rim clicks are super satisfying, like stretching and something in your back clicks and suddenly, if only for a moment, the ailment you had is blissfully alleviated

Roll the insides and outsides of my legs several times a week (time permitting, anyway), absolutely clutch. Makes things like squatting easier but has also generally improved my flexibility and noticeably mitigated day-to-day aches and pains. I have also started sitting on a lacrosse ball and rolling it around each of my butt cheeks for 45-60 sec. Remarkably uncomfortable at first but WOW it really does work the kinks out.

rolling the legs was an unpleasant routine
I've given up running, most high impact cardio tbh - now mainly swimming, lot of walking, and to build some sweat a bit of cross trainer once in a while - I should use the rower but hate that thing. I'm weight training and stretching all the way at the gym near enough.
I'll try it tomorrow but anticipating not needing it so much since I knocked the running
