It's the type of shit that if it came out in the 90s would be a classic today

What lyric do you think people would be singing today if this had come out in the 90s? Cuz there basically nothing I can latch on to here. It's one of my main issues with it.

You kidding me? Lyrics are like the best thing about this. Hartzman just doesn’t overly repeat them so they may be harder to latch onto I guess.

I mean...something being a classic is kinda subjective, but I wouldn't say something that has a catchy lyric has to be a classic either. Like Sex and Candy from Marcy Playground is a SUPER catchy tune but...I wouldn't exactly call it a classic.

The lyrics here though are really good with each listen. Bull Believer just scratched an emotional itch for me that I didn't know I had...

The alt country tunes conjure some nice imagery at least.

A selection of just a handful of the amazing lyrics here:

Comfort fools us into faith

Than fate pulls us away again

A corpse with a spirit

Got out of my bed today

Poured one out for all my guys

The tiny monuments get propped up on the roadside

cricket jumped behind the fridge it stayed there for two days

the envy sometimes gets to me

its never sacred rage

bird flies into the window every day at the same time

it'll never learn but it also wouldn't die

Now all the drugs are getting kind of boring to me

Now everywhere is loneliness and it’s in everything

on the way home play Drive-By Truuckers songs real loud

Be my baby til my body's in the ground

She says "America's a spoiled child that's ignorant of grief"

but then she gives out full sized candy bars on Halloween

I tether myself three feet from me

I do not feel my ugly body

memory always twists the knife

nothing will ever be as vivid as the darkest time of my life
