What am I missing with Adderall? I feel like I had to absolutely labor through that track just to get to any meat. Such a strange way to start a Slipknot album.

Yeah I am SERIOUSLY not a fan of Adderall as an opener. It doesn't set up the album at all, and that particular brand of experimentation at the start of the album just feels so out of place (in a bad way)

I think Adderall is actually one of the better songs on here, I thought it was very interesting hearing Slipknot go full sophisti-pop, but yeah they don’t really follow it up for the rest of the album. It just sticks out like a sore thumb

My brother who passed away last year would've looked forward to this release. I remember when we were kids we got dropped off at Best Buy by my mom and he had to pretend like he wanted a non-parental advisory cd (can't remember which one) but what he really wanted to buy that day was Iowa. So he bought the "parent approved album" to show my mom and then bought the Iowa cd and shoved it in his pants before we got to the parking lot so my mom wouldn't see it. He kept it in his pants the whole way home and when we got back to my parents we put it on in headphones and shared one ear a piece and jammed. Good times

@Zakusz - that's really nice man. Sorry for your loss, dude. My sister passed away when she was 22 (I was 18) and it changed my whole family's life forever, so I know it's not easy.

Broken family cause of a lost member unites. Sorry for everyones loss.
I listened to this and Vol3 back to back and yeah. There's a mountain between those two.

Sorry for both of you Zak and Lucca, it's not possible for me to even imagine the loss of such a close family member

Adderall is a great track. Almost reminds me of Radiohead in the verses. I think it’s dope when metal bands show they can do other shit like that.
But the track transitions so terribly into Dying Song that the good moment is instantly ruined

You guys weren't kidding about Adderall. Wow. Probably the most unfitting opening song I've heard

Half of this record sounds like an experimental album the band was working on when shit hit the fan with Roadrunner while the other half is them just phoning it in to get it out to end their contract with them. Shame, but I do love the new sounding stuff.

Btw, really appreciate everyone who pos'd this. Took a lot of time to work on. Shame it'll probably get buried by the contributor review now, but I am very proud of this write up.

I’m almost wondering if some of this was taken from that Look Outside Your Window project they wanted to release before the WANYK tour got nuked by Covid. That’d explain why a song like Adderall, among maybe 1 or 2 others, feels so damn out of place among an otherwise typical Slipknot album. Not to mention that they just pretty much just made this album so they could get away from Roadrunner.

So what's behind all the record label drama anyway? Haven't they been on the label since the beginning?

Label has changed a lot since then apparently

huh, turns out the intro of The Dying Song does kind of work as a transition from Adderall
