"Can't fathom how someone can unironically be a fan of this band"
They used to do some fun shit back in the day, not this whole forced "Whoa guys! Memes! Are you noticing we're totally not serious about our music at all yet? I fucked a girl and now she doesn't love me anymore, better write the same cringy lyrics about how I'm definitely not a creep for three albums!" but rather a nice balance of goofiness and more serious topics mixed with solid instrumentals.

I don’t think the album is outright bad, but it’s certainly on auto-pilot and the worst of the Tilian-era. It’s fairly bloated and same-y, but it’s a familiar sound that I still enjoy as background noise.

Colton showing how out of touch he is. 🙄 band has always been shit on and the mainstream/majority think dgd and their fans can go away any era no matter who the singer is.

Maybe…just maybe…they should have delayed the release of the album in the wake of their bassist’s death and the accusations against their singer. It’s almost as if they didn’t give a fuck about either.

I think they said they wanted to honor him by realizing the last of his work by giving it to the world.

yeah fair and I don't think thats the primary complaint either. Just in general and in this review/thread i've seen complaints about all the lyrics.
To address more prevalent complaints. It's a little long, yeah. But it's such an improvement over Afterburner and maybe their best since Mothership. Especially the guitar playing, I don't think it's super different from what's expected, but I felt Will and Andrew pushed themselves to provide earworms I haven't heard much since Mothership. That section in Cream of the Crop almost sounds like a slot machine, the catchy counterpoint riffs in Holy Ghost Spirit and Current Events. That super funky clean bridge in One Man's Cringe is something entirely new for them. Die Another Day has really catchy lead work, too. Also gotta credit Tim for his For the Jeers bass playing.
Tilian isn't great on this album, but I've kinda just glossed over him listening to this band most of his tenure because everyone else sounds so good to me.
