Cizek is technically a better singer, but Baretto had a more distinctive and soulful voice. Cizek just sounds kind of generic to me.

I also prefer Baretto. Baretto had a more consistently pleasant tone and on The Amanuensis he approached his vocal melodies with more creativity and uniquity than Andy currently can.

Doesn't reach The Amanuensis but is miles better than Phronesis. False Providence is awesome.

Only 5 tracks in but this is ripping so far. Loving everything except the cleans so far

I’m getting used to them though. I was trying to figure out why they bothered me and I think it the production. I’m usually not a fan of overly-produced (in my opinion) cleans in Metalcore. That said, I’m digging his harsh vocals

I'll take Barretto's singing over Andy's any day, his tone is significantly more appealing to me. Andy's harsh range is pretty nutty though, I'd probably give it to him there.

I 100% agree with Toon about this having better production than Amanuensis, but otherwise I think that's still their best work pretty easily.

Yes, the lead singer on the Amanuensis is more recognisable. For me, great tone always wins, technique no longer matters in that case.

on this one, I agree that the new singer diminishes the band's recognizability. Cardinal Red rules.

I prefer the production of Amanuensis. it sounds opaque and punchy. when I listen to djents I want something like that.

the production of this album is more in line with the new singer's vocal characteristics, clear and bright. No problem, no mistake, also no longer distinctive.

this is a good release, but not as good as Amanuensis. I was immediately attracted to Amanuensis when I played it.

The only problem with Amanuensis’ production was the wonky bass. Felt like I’d have to adjust the EQ in my car anytime I played it, but never had that issue with 99% other bands/albums

amanuensis is more punchy and tight for sure this is like glossier and more immaculate but i think i like its guitar tone a smidge more. amanuensis sounds awesome tho

Yeah I loved the sound that was my only nitpick. One of the grooviest albums I’ve heard in the genre

Chris just fit the sound better too. Andy is great, a really great vocalist even, but Chris just fit better and sounded amazing
