All of those Switched On compilations are worth it, at least to hear them once. So many good b-sides throughout their career.

someone (whose username starts with Tr and ends with um) should do an epic list series frames as a single elimination tourno between the Switched Ons and the Cocteau Twins EPs

Ooh. Now Cocteau Twins are a band worth digging for hidden treasures.

Okay Switched On what? These guys have an overwhelming amount of material!

All of the Switched Ons, depending on which phase you're in the mood for. There's less interesting stuff among there too, but that's bound to happen of course.

They are mostly in chronological order, except for the most recent one, Pulse Of The Early Brain, which covers material from all over their career.

This page lists them nicely:

The first one collates their early EPs quite nicely, I hadn’t realised before. It has Super Electric that Johnny rec’d (v good!) + the stuff from Super 45, Stunning Debut etc.

If the series is a fairly comprehensive collection of their deeper cuts, then I’ll check some more out for sure. The first one works pretty well as a whole ‘album’, weirdly

Vol. II. Refried Ectoplasm is my favorite Switched On, that one has the most krautrock influence, a sister release to Transient Random-Noise Bursts in my book.

I used to be addicted to “Mountain”, it has an amazing early live version somewhere on youtube.

Ooooof yeah Super Electric is a perfect tune.

The series is exactly that Demon, it's most of their EPs combined, which is a great way of getting to know them and seeing which ones you like best.

Love the Refried Ectoplasm one too gabba!

Nice. Ectoplasm is on tomorrow’s agenda!

(and let us take a moment to appreciate just how ridiculous this band is. Sooooooo much awesomeness)

Ectoplasm is tasty refried! Good to know. Great addition. It’s like a whole(some) new LP 🥰

Animal or Vegetable (a track from a Nurse With Wound collab?!) is strikingly good. La Boob, Mountain and French Disko all display significant slappage too

I could certainly see this surpassing a fair few of their LPs

Definitely. Those EPs contain some wonderful, high quality material. As with the Cocteaus they're a great compendium to the LPs.

Yeah CT have some great EPs.

I’m already considering the dive here well worth the effort so thanks for the encouraging vibes people. Vol II is mostly on Sound Dust levels perhaps, which is quite the shock to me (which means it’s only definitely being bested by Dots, Cobra & Transient… wow!)

Looks like you're entering another prolonged Lab phase Demon...can only be a great thing. I may join you on a chronlogical revist of the Switched On series. Even though I've heard them all, I seem to only have ratings for the first and last.
