An offering to the wild is a great centerpiece for this record

this is probably their 5th/6th best so far, although this needs revising - can certainly see the potential for a top 5 finish...

easy AOTY then!

Starts off very strong, ends strong with the penultimate track(s) before the outro. The middle is my least fave segment, but still solid enough (if diving it into 3 for absolutely no good reason, just how it's broken so far).

feels a touch warmer than Dusk currently, perhaps more melodic.

Silver Arc and Blood Upon Stone are my favorites thus far, absolute monuments.

Other than their debut the band is one of the most consistent there is. Not many bands only have 4s and above.

Haha barely anymore. Rosetta doesn’t release the same quality output anymore. Neurosis are the same, Isis are long broken up. As far as the grander scheme of metal beyond post metal they’re one of the best in general for me.

This is growing on me more and more. Usually, when I'm impressed by sound design, it's in the context of listening to electronic artists. But these guys do a fantastic job of it within the context of metal. Their releases keep getting more textured and finessed.

that stretch of Into The Night->Full Moon->t/t has probably my favorite flow across the whole album.

The Ocean are definitely worthy competition to COL. Don't think they're as good, but they're in the conversation.
