first full play through. really weird and ambitious sound.
attention please was a romantic tease shoegaze, but this seems to be melancholic psychadelia. the overall message seems to be a confused state of pain. boris really focuses on the eerie and unsettling aspects of their drone music.
In that way, it really does sound like the cover: messy and unsettling plasticity.
all of the instrumental elements are REALLY good, like 4.5/5. minimalistic sometimes but always poignant.
vocals are OK.
I like this more than NO or evol because of its clear and consistent theme.
4 overall from me, and I'm a die-hard Boris fan. best album since Dear imo. After 10 or so playthroughs I may change it up or down.

All this album did for me is make me want to go listen to their older stuff. It's solid but doesn't feel fully fleshed out.

not sure how I feel yet but if I recall correctly from my first listen, a number of the songs feel like there is gonna be more song and then they just end abruptly... which isn't an aspect I can really see growing on me
maybe I need to listen to the NO before going straight into the W
