tocs would be a lot better if spencer actually utilized any of his vocal range on it but the dude basically just apes dallas the whole time and its kind of headache inducing. part of why crowbar smokes the whole album

Spencer's skramz on that album didn't age the best but everything else is simply amazing.

'Like this is better than TOCS in every measurable way yet'
Bro I'm probably gonna be the guy who likes this record the most like with Erase me, but this is a stupid take.

Ive been listening to this and their older stuff back to back, and the songwriting really hasn't dipped that much tbh. I think it's weird for people who were 5ing their pre breakup stuff to think this is "bad" or whatever.

Damn Excuses is the most unimpactful heavy song they've ever made

Spencer is my biggest gripe with TOCS because he also only apes one facet of Dallas' screaming. Dude wasn't exactly a vocal variety pack but at least he threw in some lows. Album still rips though.

He does some mid tonal vocals like on A Boy Brushed Red but yeah beyond that he's all Dallas 2.0

This album doesnt have a single memorable riff on here. How cant you see the huge dip in songwriting?

I have never been impressed by Underoath riffs. TOCS especially doesn't have anything remotely noteworthy in that regard. I've always liked them for their drumming and vocals, and both of those things are outstanding here as usual.
