Leprous is not metal anymore, just pretentious boring pop. Listening to Coal to clean my ears after listening to Aphelion.

Disgusting.

On the surface I can understand fans' complaining about this not proggin' hard enough but this thing is a delight honestly, there's so many detailed arrangements and textures, tasteful beats and Einar shines on those laid back sections.

Sweet album.

Damn Nightime Disguise has such an epic climax and then it ends so abruptly.

: (

lol

Guys there is more drum swag here than in half of the pop catalogue of the 21st century. worst case scenario you can say the guitars are not forefront anymore and they are less obsessed with uneven time shifts, but jesus christ if you can play half of these on drums hit me up.

This as a counterpoint that Leprous is just Einar. Ehm, I am fairly confident Leprous without Baard wouldn´t be Leprous lol.

I don´t really see why people are saying this sounds more like an Einar record than a band record. I think it´s the other way around.

It´s not the fact that there is almost no metal here that means the band is also less present.

Otherwise, I can understand how some people may find it pompous and pretentious. Personally, I enjoy putting on an album like this very occasionally, and this is a good one.

On my first listen now and I'm really enjoying this a lot. Seems like they took what I liked about Pitfalls, but expended on it with a lot more diverse instrumentation.

I get why people love this album, but for my taste it's sometimes too much pop. I'm also not a big fan of his vocals, they kinda annoy me.

I find it so interesting that the people who hate this find it far worse than Pitfalls even though it resembles past work far more. Oh, well.

I want to like this more than I do because I love it when prog bands go pop but it really feels like this album only has one trick, and while it’s pretty nifty trick it does get old by the end

"Malina, Pitfalls, and now this... What is even the point of having such talented guitarists, drummer, and bassist if they are effectively the back-up band now? Fuck this shit, I'm out"

You do realize that Einar wrote a good chunk of the music on Bilateral too right?

Einhar wrote alot of the Congregation album too so yeah, it seems like the trend since Malina, blaming all on Einhar because the direction of the band is leaning more towards singing, he's probably a dictator and hits everyone with a whip if they don't do what he says XDDD.

I'm having flashbacks from the Opeth era when Akerfeldt stopped doing growls and the band started going to a prog-rock kinda style. If you didn't saw this coming you werent paying attention, it's nice that you call this pretentious after your take on the album LOL.

too many people upset that they're not getting their Opeth cummies from this band anymore lmfao

but yeah Einar has always been the primary songwriter and such ever since this band's inception. Why are people complaining about it right now?

"Leprous is not metal anymore"

They stopped being metal since Congregation, you just realized this?

Apparently The Congregation was the record Einar wrote all alone, it really is like a solo record. Everything before and everything after is more of a group effort.

Yeah I remember him saying smth about it when ppl were crying online about the band not being prog/metal enough because of him but those same ppl loved Congregation, apparently without the knowledge of him being the main mind behind it.

Yeah I agree, love Baard, Im so happy he's in the band, is my fav part of most albums.

honestly the more I listen to their later albums, the more I realize how much this style of music suits them more than their heavier stuff

People rating this anything below a 3 are just mad metalheads who don't really like good music but only want and expect heavy stuff. This is a great record.
