Gah I rly want to like this but I'm not feeling most of it. It's mostly an issue I have with the vocals and this kind of style, it just all starts to sound rly homogenous to me. Beautiful voice, great production etc., but very little strikes me as memorable. Also this album crashed my spotify app twice, so fuck it to death.

god this album is so sexy. chivalry is not dead is one of the coolest tracks I've heard all year, can't believe more people aren't talking about it, the production and vocal performance are both just wild

Vocals-aside this record did the band kinda dirty imo between the more rigid nature and electronic-y production, it almost sounds like chill Kaiyote beats to study to in places. What I loved the most about CYW was the musicianship, which is why I'm having a bit of a hard time with this one.
And with "hard" I mean that it's pretty great but I'm grumpy for it not being what I wanted haha

Sure but they generally weren't as rigid on CYW (haven't heard the debut), plus the production was clearer and more organic which made the band shine. Here even the more active songs like Chivalry sound like "beats". Imo and all

Either way the drummer does fukk with programmed electronic drums so a lot that you think is programmed may be that plus whatever eclectic percussion set he has. Sounds more like the drummer is playing more textures and variety, either programmed or whatever unique physical percussion setup he has going on.
