The album cover makes it look like the Sunbather of Death Metal. From what i skimmed through, it probably isn't that?

It’s closer to “Sunbather of death metal” than you would think, but this is still significantly different to Sunbather

I listened to the first three songs and it wasn't like sunbather at all. Mainly because there wasn't even a hint of melody most of the time. I have to hand it to them on the album cover though

Yeah this is a lot more dissonant than Sunbather, they just have a shoegaze slant to their production. Sunbather is a lot more prominent with its gaze infulence, this just hints at it.

The comparison is more in that they’re metal albums with some gaze

I think the thing I take away most from this is that it truly feels like a complete package. The album tackles a relatable concept (mindless adherence to routine) and takes it to its natural conclusion. I mentioned before how it has gaze-y textures, honestly the gazeiness feel accidental, the band just wanted a sound that fit the concept. Incredibly impressed by how focused this album is.
