Oh yeah, Metamodern kicks ass too. I just love the moodiness of this one, and then the twangy neotraditional on High Top Mountain, a bit more. All Around You is such a goated song.

I gotta get more into this. I think the horns and stuff turn me off this album but everyone talks about it in such high regard. I'll get there.

I'd say definitely give it a go bigweinerdon, once you let the vibes wash over you it's an incredible album!
And hell yeah Hawks, I think you'll dig his other stuff too.

A friend sent me Call to Arms and I actually really fucking dug it. I guess I never really gave “proper” country a fair shake, I’ve heard a lot of the old school shit but most of the country I’ve heard is the dogshit all over the radio… I guess what I’m getting at: is this a good place to start with this dude?
I mean I guess country is like any other genre, where most of the mainstream shit is fucking terrible… im gonna be honest, its hard to seperate it from how right wing so much of it is, but this dude seems solid.

Or rather how right wing the people that listen to it are. My little brother is one of the biggest straight up fascists I know and he listens to nothing but it, but he’d probably call this “gay” or something

This is my favorite as well, although I think High Top Mountain fights for that spot too, followed closely by Metamodern for me. Then the bluegrass albums, then Dood and Sound.

I'd even take the bluegrass albums over this
