there were a couple months where i didn't listen to this band because of that stuff. just felt a little uncomfortable when i tried to.

same here, only started listening to them again when the new single dropped. and i didnt even have any real convictions regarding the situation; just felt a lil "uncomfortable"

wil's statement (the really long one from mid last year) seemed earnest enuf, but i dont wanna discount the experiences of georgia and others based on that (ppl neglect to mention that more than one person came forward during that whole thing). i've followed both wil and georgia for a long time now and have heard things about both of them being difficult in their personal lives so i really dont think it's possible to strongly advocate for either side given that the only info out there is just contradictory hearsay from wil and georgia. seems like it's best treated as a private matter between the two of them that's none of our business, like the fallout from a "toxic relationship" as wil claims.

deleting all my social media has helped me still listen to stuff like this, so i think you're probably right about that, john. i think i just got to a point where i realized it's an individual decision whether you still listen to "problematic" artists and it's not really right or wrong unless you think it is.

as far as brand new goes, it's just too much to listen to lacey sing about broken girls and shit like that. but i can listen to wagner sing about how he's a POS

most brits & aussies kinda lose their accents when singing, but this guy go even harder. you know it's real when words that end with "o" sound like "or"

Toxic relationships bring out the worst in ppl.
It's also a habit when those relationships end to try to get out ahead of everything by painting the other person as an awful person and yourself as the victim.
Not saying that's exactly what happened here but just a human attribute to keep in mind

Chan, I couldn’t agree more with your comment on the previous page about Dirty Water. Sorta just passed over it at first but it’s so great after a few listens

"The amount of folks I see still listening to brand new via social media these days is wild"

I still do and don't really feel too weird about it either.

I've met Will and talked at length with him, and his accent is as strong off stage as when he sings. However, during interviews his accent is diminished somewhat.

This blew me away on the first listen and has grown off me on each subsequent listen and I'm not quite sure why, because I think it's probably the most interesting thing they've done. Maybe just seems to have slightly less conviction? Like I don't feel the energy as much. I have no idea what this will end up as

it's the other way around for me. the whole thing keeps growing on me, which is exactly what happened with the singles Big Smoke and I Still Dream About You

I think this is growing off a little. I was initially stuck between a 3.5 and 4 rating, but now its a definite 3.5. I only see myself coming back to God is Dead, Big Smoke and Don't Waste your Anger eventually. A solid release regardless.

@butt. the heavy accent is my favorite, not many artists keep it while singing haha

I have not had a hard time listening to Wil even after the Georgia news broke mostly because from what I can tell it sounds like a terribly toxic relationship that Wil has owned up to and appears to sincerely regret how he acted.

I don't know the whole story, but unless he was just a straight up abusive person then going through a bad break up i understand. I've been verbally mean to chicks, but honestly it was well warranted. Like you fuck my best friend on the side I'm gonna verbally abuse you. You don't get a pass for being a bad person just because you're a female. And there's gonna be 10 million guys that will stand by you because they want pussy or wanna be the knight in shining armor. There's a huge double standard
