I'm not an expert on KC live albums but I think you can try USA, The Great Deceiver and The Night Watch, besides Earthbound. I know very well USA, The Night Watch and Earthbound. The versions on the two first are great, the version on Earthbound is very havy and savage but has a very low quality sound. USA, The Great Deceiver and The Night Watch are three great live albums of them.

I listened to The Great Deceiver and there it was the same case of slowed tempo and missing instruments. I didn't find Earthbound on YT, or at least it's blocked on Youtube Germany. I can use Proxy for that, but on the go it's pretty inconvienient

@e21 Yeah, I really love USA, Night Watch has it's ups and downs. Neither of these nor Live in Chicago or radical action... cointain versions as intense and angry and with the same sense of urgency as on Earthbound. The version on Cirkus is actually close (same line-up) but somehow doesn't reach it neither.
Featuring the very best of so many versions of one of the greatest songs ever is no small feat. That's why I strongly disagree on Earthbound as being the low point of KCs-discography.
But i admit, my faible for low fi hardcore, black metal and noise as a musical genre possibly helps in not hating Earthbound....

@ Don
It seems you're an expert in KC live albums. Nice. I admit you're right in relation to that track. As I said, my only complaint is the sound. It's a pity. I love to hear music on an great equipment.

I had this at a 3 and bumped it to a 3.5. It's even possible to get a 4 from me. ''Sailor's Tale'', ''Ladies of the Road'', ''Prelude'' and ''Island'' are better than I thought. Will relisten to it all asap. Pos'd.

Thanks Jethro. I'm glad that you have change your opinion about the album. It seems to be useful to insist in writing reviews about the old albums, even today.

hmmm, for me its the third favorite one of the first 4 behind Lizard and the debut...
Possibly number 5 of studio albums overall, Red and Construcktion of light being ahead of it too. And a very close call with Larks Tongues...

Lizard has an amazing final track, but that's pretty much it for me...maybe that'll change with time.

hmmm I like all of it. But I understand what you mean by goofy and funny about happy family and indoor games, they're love-or-hate stuff. Cirkus and lady of the dancing water are just plain greatness for me though...

yea...I mean its a common feature in every experimental outfit...it falls sometimes on some playfulness in detriment of heart&soul...I think is my bad though...I often rather sad/disturbing/twisted music.

This is KC. As once Bruford said: " When you want to hear where music is going in the future, you put on a King Crimson album."
