There's some reasons I don't bump it for now, mainly is the over-reliance towards the end on atmospheric sections - they are cool but maybe a tad too much...even though Seven Horns of War is one of my faves here...Long Shadows of Dread, The Oxford Handbook, Snake Pit Mating Frenzy are a fuckin assault!
Being a Nile noob (only listened - like hell tho - to AotW) has its advantages...so try to exercise giving it a shot as if they weren't Nile. The vocals are really powerful and more expanded in sound, less "dry" I'd say. Not saying they're better, just a new asset that shouldn't be viewed as a weak link in the final result imo.

Being new to something does have its privileges, the way you interpret or feel the music isn't attached to the past. If this album represented my first contact with the band, my reaction would probably be different.

BTW, Notrap this is a very well written review.
Jammed to the record again today, love the doomy vibe on some of the tracks, more effective and atmospheric than the simple tech-death noodling.
