“this is the length of RoC as well, was shocked when I saw the run-time but it’s not off-putting, my 5s probably average 60 mins so I’m fine with 50-odd. Only thing is I’ll have to plan my assault carefully.”
Relationship of Command is originally 45 minutes, you must be counting the bonus tracks on the streaming version

Good catch, but no I’ve owned the album for well over a decade, I just guess it has different versions. I’d never considered the fact the original American version was 45 mins, didn’t know.

To be fair, the bonus RoC tracks are absolutely essential imo
|
| |
yeah RoC is one of the select few albums I think the bonus tracks positively add to the album
|
| |
They are great! I just don’t think bonus tracks should be considered when looking at an album critically unless the band makes an effort to incorporate them in a meaningful way. I don’t really like when they’re tacked on at the end
|
| |
That’s very fair but also RoC is one of the few albums I can think of where imo the bonus tracks flow seamlessly with the rest
|
| |
That being said my physical copy stops at track 11 so I haven’t tried listen to the bonus version in full. Could add to it, it does happen occasionally

Interested in checking this out considering it's similar to the renowned "if you're reading this". Those guys slap.

Well, it’s completely fair to disregard the bonus tracks critically, it’s just that until this point I literally had no idea this wasn’t the standard version. Back in the day when I used to buy CDs all that was disregarded on purchase, much of the time anyway.

@Ghost I recommend them highly, they advocate for increased literacy rates

Hard to imagine RoC without the bonus tracks. Same with AFI's Sing the Sorrow for me.

I didn’t even know Sing The Sorrow had bonus tracks? Weird lol

I don't think I know of any albums near and dear to me that are affected by bonus tracks. I honestly might have heard RoC with the bonus tracks but didn't realize that's what they were.

Was never huge about the RoC bonus tracks tbh. Only huge one that comes to mind is The Sensual World, which I can't imagine without Walk Straight Down the Middle at the end. I guess the bonus tracks on Lorde's debut were pretty much staples too...

Republic of Wolves did it weird last year because the “bonus” tracks were randomly threaded thru the album
Anyways Defenestra is still breathtaking PSA

"because the “bonus” tracks were randomly threaded thru the album"
Kinda intrigues and irritates me equally when artists do this
|
| |
The entire album sounds completely different without the bonus tracks, was definitely an... interesting choice

All We Love We Leave Behind had bonus tracks interspliced with the tracklist too iirc.
