He thinks most prog is just wanky bullshit anyway, so I'm not sure how much their earlier work would serve to disprove that lmao

I like how the idea of Hawks having bad opinions is just now a revelation to you.

I don't see it, but I was being pretty generous when I gave some of their records 5's so I dropped them down a bit.

Clearly, you haven't given Parallax II a fair listen through

You’re right because Alaska and Silent Circus are so shitty I never wanna jam anything by them again. Colors is dece though I’ll give them that. White Walls is still a banger.

I don't hear it with Alaska at all. At worst I could reasonably see it being a 2.5 tbh. The structure is tight, everyone knows how to play at a high level, there's nothing there that I think is worth getting worked up over. I'm almost convinced that everyone who has these ridiculous 1's should give a listen to the first album from Sonohara (WeepinnWillow's project), that I'd say is enough to turn almost all your 1's into 1.5's in comparison because that is B A D.

People are really calling this a return to form? This is boring! Gotta give it an average just because they are obviously skilled. But skilled doesn't equal good.

I don't even like Alaska that much tbh, that album is way overrated, their later stuff is way better, Colors is very wanky as well and totally see the dislike for it, but in Parallax II they make their craft blend together so fantastically, it's like a different band almost
