Damn hadn't thought of that parallel, not an unflattering comparison for it

Anybody heard The Light Fantastic yet? Seems they sold it at live shows, the remaining copies are now available in their online store. Sadly it's pretty expensive (~€40) as it comes with a big booklet or something and it's vinyl only. Somebody described it as "catchy pop prog" on the band's boards.
Anyway they should currently be in the studio to record for a new "proper" album, comically prolific as always.

What is it?? How have i not heard of this

Seems to be another compilation of stuff that got away before and perhaps a couple new tunes. Man it must be quite literally hard to be a true Motorpsycho fanatic.
Btw, for the CttE comparisons, I noticed that the strumming ~4:40 into the t/t reminds me of And You And I.

From what I read in the updates on their site, they recorded the improvisational material they performed this year at a couple of festivals as the 3rd part of this Tower-Crucible trilogy. Besides that stuff, there's a follow-up LP in the works, apparently they entered a different studio this month to record again. Really prolific lol

Some tracks from the Fragments album seem to be on there.. interesting. Also crazy that they're back in the studio already - fingers crossed they change up the style a bit on the next one.
Their improv can sometimes be their best stuff - the live versions of the Wheel, Lacuna/Sunrise and Bomb Proof Roll are all exceptional. Wouldn't mind an album in that vein.
If anyone's interested there's a cool interview/doc with them someone released last week: http://vimeo.com/376023605?fbclid=IwAR3z8HKyPH7_0rMG0-Rvr8O9euLgqWZ9aE8opz0TYZ0gMXC2xpFupUQs0KY

Hyped as always

And apparently it has a 40-minute "ballet" plus shorter songs where "short" can mean up to 10 minutes lol.
Oh, and The Light Fantastic is on Bandcamp in case you didn't know!

album art is stunning though (and it has been for the last three albums)
1h24m of new music? This band has become more prolific than Steven Wilson, it seems.

Oh wow I didn't love the single but placed after the t/t it works wonders. And the following The Magpie has almost a BH/BC feel to it.
edit: wait is my boy Snah not singing any lead vocals in the new one? D:

@Sabrutin: sure it would be AOTY contender if 2020 wasn't the year of Ulcerate. But it's like in Bundesliga. There is a sure shot winner, so the real excitement is who will be vice champion... same goes for 2020 in my book.

Remember when Ulcerate dropped their new album and half of Sputnik had never listened to Death Metal before? Ah, those times...
|

These guys keep dropping one quality album after another and people here still don't know them (shrug)
As much as Ulcerate at least...
