one of the first emo rap releases that emotionally stretches beyond the tropes of the genre imo

I'm so glad people love this. As much as I love it, too, though, I'm a bit hesitant to call it a genre best -- in part because I don't think it's that clear where it sits (I wouldn't call it "emo rap", for example, which I suppose is something more along the lines of Lil Tracy), but also because moreso than it pushes past or transcends the genre's tropes, I think it sidesteps them a little. Wicca Phase Springs Eternal has always seemed to me to be a bit of an identity crises. It's telling that he edited his last album after its release, adding two acoustic tracks (one of which is now the closer) -- he seems most comfortable with this blend of acoustic and witch-hop. This is also such a hyper-specific album, I don't think he's concerned with it fitting into any wider scene or being a landmark release in any way.

I mean it’s def not rap, he doesn’t rap at all. The beats however could be considered rap-esque but this is more indie/sadcore for sure. Jamming again now. m/

Wow this sounds like I'll fucking hate it but I'm genuinely intrigued nonetheless. Who knows, maybe I'll actually listen to it once my list of things to listen to isn't a mile and a half long...

Idk this is about as good as emo gets imo. Album is seriously an emotional rollercoaster.

Not a fan of the lack of vocal variation and I could honestly do without the beats. If more of this was like "Crushed" I think I'd be more onto this, but that ain't the case.

^^^ Exactly this.

Crushed was my favorite on the album. His voice the main reason I despise everything else he has done, but it's still a good album.

If you like Crushed and haven't listened to Charmer (Tigers Jaw), I would. There's even an obvious reference to one of those songs throughout this.

the guitar on the verse/ or post chorus of "crushed" is pretty much the same as the guitar on "cool" from charmer. You're right, it's def a reference to the band/album and i'm sure Adam wrote that song anyways so it's a cool connection.
