I thought I remembered seeing they wanted to include Angelina because it hadn’t seen a properly-produced studio album yet. The ESF one is kinda rough, Audiotree is kinda louder/more rocky and Elsewhere’s is obviously also live. Feels like they got it sounding how they finally want it to for this, but I do wish they also added to it.

That does make sense, but the rough/lo fi aesthetic of the first version I think almost suits the feel of the track better imo

Ultimately this is definitely not as special an album as Cardinal but it’s still very good. I like the first few and last few songs the best. The shorter ones don’t really do anything for me. So yeah, a bit of a sophomore slump but far from disappointing, glad to have them back.

yeah this is a solid 3.8 for me Boney...it's soo calming to listen to and if you really pay attention it's those subtle details that'll strike u the most instead of the sweeping emotions found on Cardinal (which I obv like more). with that being said I really like how Evan's melded his melodies, utilizing a lot more patience within his voice. this thing just swells, it's really beautiful even if the middle is a bit lacking. Darkness and Rings are probably my favorites with Portals right behind because ugh that ending is the best/worst fake out

It reminds me of Good Nature from last year. Just an easy, enjoyable breeze of an album.

Team Elsewhere Angelina though.

Also team Elsewhere Angelina—though this'll do.

Side note: Nandi sounds outstanding throughout this record. Glad they featured her as much as they did.

this is a really beautiful album, i like it quite a big more than cardinal. i sort of missed the boat on that album and didn't listen to it until after the 'allegations' so only a few songs stuck out to me. but this one is really amazing.

Really enjoying this even though I found their old more emo stuff kind of annoying. My least favourite on here might be "Intrepid" which is probably the most emo one on here.

Highlights are definitely "Rings", "Angelina", "Easy Enough", and "Darkness."

This album keeps growing on me. It's much more subdued than Cardinal, but I think it works. Rings, Portal, Angelina, and Darkness are easily the highlights for me. His vocals on Portal may be some of my favorite of the year.
