I'm somewhere around a 3.9 right now. I can tell already it's going to need some growing, but overall I still like what I've heard. I don't think they've necessarily progressed from Arche the way people were hoping (expecting?), and while I don't think they necessarily have devolved, it's kind of spun off into a bit of a different direction. Keep spinning the thing.
Agree with some comments here that the mixing and mastering are puzzling. A Tue Madsen rework would go a long way.

Artiswar you’re skipping because of the artwork?
|
| |
it's going on the list of top 5 records with the dumbest artwork of all time so yeah maybe
|
| |
I’m sure finding 5 or even 50 worse ones wouldn’t be too hard but if you skip this band entirely you’re seriously missing out. The three before this all sound completely different and they’re all near-perfect

| |
real reason I'm skipping it is because I'm not up to date with their best records yet, I'm working on it. but the art for this majorly fucking sucks, they should all commit Seppuku.

The art is fucking terrible, yeah

I’m not sure if anyone else here speaks Japanese but I’ve been keeping up with the recent magazine/online/radio interviews as much as I can and they’ve been saying the whole lead up to this album that it was made specifically to translate well to live performances. Interestingly the Japanese comment sections I’ve been in have been really positive so far compared to here.

I think i noted that these songs sound like extra fodder for touring
Not surprising that Japanese comment sections would be more positive since they're the largest fan demographic

This may be shocking but this isn't the first time the reception to an album on sputnik hasn't mirrored the general feedback. Sput is a... special community.

Other worldwide communities dig it a lot too. In fact, the previous three aren't considered the best at all in a lot of places. Due to how they mix genres, many fans don't come from a metal background as most seem to do here, which makes their recent work not as enticing for them, especially DSS.

Glad you dig this Evo, I think it’s better than a lot of people here are saying
That includes Values of Madness

Last minute of that track is rad as hell.

There isn't a bad song here tbh, a couple of lulls here and there.
I absolutely love Kyo's performance on the opener, wild track.

Honestly I wasn’t expecting this album to be so aggressive compared to Arche

Album Rating: 3.0
It's quite aggressive in parts, but the heavier parts of Arche are still heavier.
Revelation of Mankind trumps anything on here in terms of aggression.

Sorry pleb, but values of madness is outright trash

I don't mind it, minus Kyo's cringey vocal section.

I don’t agree Gonzo, I don’t think it’s any worse than Sustain the Untruth or Chain Repulsion from Arche, both of which I think Values of Madness takes a cue from

Both those songs rule tbh, especially Chain Repulsion.

Yup I agree
