it is kinda lo-fi in that diy tape recorder kinda way but it's still quite crisp and the guitar tones are sex so raw

Yeah, I know what you meant, but Smiles has always been a tough one for me.

I had a bad trip the first time I heard it and so it's just a lot harder for me to enjoy it as much as I do Niandra LaDes.

Honestly, I need to give it a proper listen but I can't ever find a used CD or decent mp3s.

yeah very much!

didn't used to at all but then i was listenening to it in my car while stuck in a traffic jam in a tunnel bathed in this eerie
dark yellow lighting and all of a sudden it all just made sense to me

i don't listen to it just to chill though, more like 2am on headphones haha

@ melons - yeah the prices for any copy of smile are ridiculous, i think it's pretty rare cos frusciante had production discontinued

i've got a 320kb/s rip, i'll s/b you a link tonight if i can remember where i found it (i think i bookmarked the page)

Yeah, there are still a couple hundred copies sitting in a warehouse somewhere. He said that he wanted to release them at some point, but I assume there was some issue with the label that prevented it.

And, that would be most appreciated, dude

haha yeah it's so ridiculous! they go for like $100 each on ebay/amazon, gotta find this warehouse and get rich!

yeah i think i remember reading that - he had it discontinued because he was ashamed about releasing it for drug money, not ashamed of the actual music, which he really liked? idk something like that
