I launch my fragrance called 'Integrity'
I sell the fact that I can't be bought
What a damn line that is.

Alex is definitely at his most reserved vocal wise here but is the complete opposite when it comes to his lyrics.
So many smirk worthy lines all over this thing.
Also, the basslines rule.

I think premature evaluation will hurt this album quite a bit.

I used to love those guys... but this sounds just blend and boring to me for now...
And Turner really should do some takes in the studio, he's just really out of tune sometimes.

This sounds like the sequel to The Antlers' Familiars.

can't tell if this is better than AM or not... but it seems that I'll either drop my rating here or raise the AM's one

Every week there’s one release I know I should listen to but sort of dread it...last week was Gaz Coombes which I skipped. Think I should push myself with this one - expectations. Could. Not. Be. Lower.

I listened once and didn't come away feeling like it was all that special. But that Rowan 4.1 screams listen again.

The new Primal Scream. Bunch of style hopping poseurs with a carefully cultivated retro cool that actually goes so far it end up going all the way back around to deeply uncool.
Favourite Worst Nightmare is decent, and they have a few good songs on each of the other albums.

Agreed Sowing. This seems like one of those albums that needs a lot of listens to pick out individual moments. The style is really nice but it doesn't really stray into different territory at all, so it'll probably be a good grower.

First song sounds like a worse version of the sort of thing Richard Hawley or this year's Paddy Hanna do way better - please god the whole album isn't in this style.

This sounds like 'swing week' on X-Factor when everyone either sings Sinatra or Buble

I'm feeling a 0.5 review coming on...
Been listening to Hawley and Paddy Hanna all year...this could not have come at a worse time for me lol, this sounds like me singing in the shower
Last album sounded like an anaemic version of QOTSA style yank rawk, this sounds like an anaemic version of lounge lizard retro croon. Whoever told this Turner kid he was cool has a lot to answer for. They've moved the music further and further into the backdrop and put this dude's bang average poetry and vocals centre stage.
The best thing about this band at the start was the rhythm section...then the guitars...then last of all Turner and his hit and miss lyrics. Yikes, rampant ego.
