I would say it is an album that has moments of great promise.

@watch it might be a bit much to ask but listen to the original Twin Fantasy. It'll help you understand why this is so highly rated by older fans.

I'll compare. I'll also check an earlier album.

Am I the only one who doesn't get all the praise for Will's lo-fi work?
The production on this is such a lift-up for this album, and Will is much confident arraigner and vocalist now.
I understand that some of you have been listening to this album for seven years, and I understand the songwriting was just as strong back then, but as someone who is just being introduced to it now, there's no comparison between this and the original. This is far superior.

@letsgofishing
you know some people do think the lo-fi aesthetic was nothing more than a gimmick, and while I do agree Will's true strenghts reside in his songwriting, there was an undeniable charm the lo-fi production gave to all his old material, he actually knew how to make the most out of it, not only giving the music a lot of character and emotion but providing a dreamy atmosphere to revolve around
that being said I do like the original versions of Sober to Death and Nervous Young Inhumans a lot more----> see: undeniable charm

I mean, I am a massive fan of The Mountain Goats and Have A Nice Life, both of which also are lo-fi heroes, and I think for Have A Nice Life, character, emotion and dreamy atmosphere is a perfect way to describe why lo-fi fits them.
For Will though, all it's caused me to think so far is "Damn, this man needs a budget."
And now he has one, so I'm pretty content with it, actually.

I love everything about Nervous Young Inhumans except the chorus melody, just really can't get into that. This thing really hits it stride from Bodys onwards.
