how come no one told me about this album. I've liked this band for a while. I wish I had friends who'd keep track of metal... or any friends in general.

For me the copy paste is obvious Hawks, but it's just my opinion, not a universal truth.

disagree. I mean they re both death/doom and prob you have that opinion because on this release they have a little more shiny/ gothic approach. You should listen to their previous releases, where they're way more crustier and "sludgier", to get where their sound is coming from.

Yeah I don't see any similarities other than the fact that they're both classified as death/doom. This album even has more of a funeral doom feel than their past stuff which is even further from Paradise Lost lol.

anyway nice to see the rating upping a bit. These dudes are special. I'm listening to Effigies of Evil now and in all tracks I end up headbanging (slightly, considering I'm at work) m/m/

Hahaha I just got home from work. It's nice having a job where you can jam at the same time.
But yeah these guys are easily one of my fav bands nowadays. All their stuff is amazing.

I love how they progress from those doomy riffs into that crusty DM, sometimes you don't even notice.

for me its their best record to date, but i have to revisit all the pre-DDF stuff because i could have given them quite a few more listens when i first started listening to HM

While I totally agree with the spirit of the assessment, I humbly beg to differ as to its literal meaning.
Gothic is certainly a strong reference point for what is heard in Ossuariums..., but in anno 2018 it's easier to have the latter on repeat than the former, Gothic is a breakthrough for metal yes, albeit a raw and far from refined one.
