No idea why I had this at a 3. I have been sleeping on this album hard.

Honestly, this might be up there for me now too. Definitely my top 3 at least.

I much prefer this to Life Is But A Dream..., it's a nice cohesive listen and the songs are stronger. It's where I hoped the band would go after CoE.
Got to admire TIBAD's experimentation, it's a good direction for them going forward, this one stands out to me as their best though.

Honestly, fair. It’s a great album and it truly does feel like the spiritual successor to City of Evil.

Incredible but nothing here of the same magnitude as the opener. These leads are as thrilling as Syn's work gets. Especially the intro and the calm part of the bridge, pure fucking gold. Easily a top 3 A7x track.

I kinda agree but on the other end of the spectrum, the ballads here are fucking phenomenal. Roman Sky and Angels don’t go for that same feel at all and both are absolutely killer

Insane that they went from this to the newest one. First half of this is easily the best thing they've done

I'm in the LIBAD camp but won't argue. That works because it's wacky, this works because it's almost as massive as my neighbour's mother.
@Wildcard For sure. Both of them were my instant favourites when I first checked the album, I love the bluesy vibe of Angels and the guitar solo in Roman Sky is one of the most beautiful I've ever heard. And, well, this is the type of band that thrives on doing something different with each song, which I always appreciate. The Stage is just the most continuously epic one here and I find myself returning to it the most.

tbh Exist tries to be the most adventurous and fails miserably. I don’t care for the wankfest bs that opens the song, the little ambient interlude is nice, and I actually really love when the vocals come in and it goes into ballad territory again. Then it closes with the college stoner monologue from NDT, which is lame. They were actually playing that ballad part live on the tour and it was fantastic.
Aside from Exist, I completely agree with the variation they achieved here. Really second only to LIBAD, but pretty much everything has less variety than that record lol
