"this grew a lil old on subsequent listens"
I'm sure it will. I thought Lucid Collective was phenomenal for about a month and then it just wore off and I am not too interested in listening to it again. Hopefully this album fares better

you guys just need to learn to space out your listens lol. if you find an album even remotely fun, wait to listen to it again and come back to it with fresh ears. don't just spin the damn thing 20 times lol it'll obviously wear itself out

Yeah I don't understand how people do this. even 2 times in a row is too much for me.

Unless Im reviewing something I never have an album on repeat no matter how much I love. Hell, I probably have 5's I havent even jammed more than 10 times in total because their niche vibes don't present themselves in my day-to-day humdrum very often. Ya dig? Like, To Be Kind by Swans is a 5 in my heart, but its not like I'm throwing that beast on my "morning commute" or "cooking dinner" playlists.

exactly. I'll listen to a new album and if I dig it i'll put it on the back burner and listen to something that's completely different. I find the best thing for me is jumping from one genre to another. keeps the pallet fresh and makes coming back to those back burner albums even more rewarding

I think it comes with age a lot of the time, idk. When I was younger Id have stuff on repeat all day quite frequently which was awesome as hell at the time, but these days it's not something I enjoy doing. Makes rating stuff doubly time consuming though because I wont rate anything I havent heard at least twice... unless its a special kind of terrible, of course.

definitely comes with age. back when I was first getting into music I would spin the same thing over and over ad nauseum, cause you find one good thing and stick with it. I recently regained an ear for just wanting to listen to anything that sounded good and not sticking to one genre so that has made enjoying new albums for a good stretch of time way easier. unless I don't like something from the get go, albums take a long time to wear themselves out these days

ye idk where your getting that im spinning this nonstop, i literally spun this two times since it came out. First time i was very impressed, second time not so much anymore. And there were like 3 days between those jams.

i feel exactly like you two tbh, i rarely spin an album two times in a row. Happens sometimes when its an anticipated release that just came out but otherwise i also like the diversity.

They overuse the clean guitars midsection too much on this but otherwise amazing, on par with artificial brain this year

I could have used with a couple more tracks. This record is too short.

very solid

Tech death albums are more effective when they're short imo
