Album Rating: 3.0
First song sounds like the least interesting 15 seconds of 'Disintegration' repeated over 6 minutes with Bono singing over the top - 2.5/5
Second song is 90% 'Remain in Light', the most blatant love letter to David Byrne I've ever heard but...this is all good and I like the Whang bit too. 0% originality but appeal is undeniable - 4.5/5.

Agree pretty much 100% haha.

I never realised that this chap sings 100% like Bono when he carries a tune, freaking me out a bit.
Thought he mainly spoke-sung in the past.

I wouldn't say mainly spoke-sung, just on a handful of their biggest songs (especially Dance Yrself Clean and Losing My Edge)

The end of 'how do you sleep?' reminds me a bit of 'We Share Our Mothers' Health' by The Knife, a little slower though.
It's not bad overall, thinking a 3.5/5 for that one.

Can't wait to listen to this and hate it

I can't hate this as technically it's decent in parts.
All I'll say is Murphy is a shameless magpie - every single sound, tone, part and lyric here more than reminds me of something else, it makes me feel like someone is playing a way too clever joke on me. Album is so knowing and in-joke-y/homage-y, too much for my tastes.
'Too cool for school - the artist', as ever with LCD Soundsystem.

funny you mention, the second half of tonite reminds me a lot of that "i never said i would stay till the end" lyrical barrage section of disintegration
|
| |
also this review is kinda stupid
|
| |
singles were bang average tbh, never thought i'd be less hyped for an lcd soundsystem record
|

this is pretty awesome

Will check this in like a week probably.

tbh most of the album tracks are surprisingly more exciting/interesting than the singles. super duper impressed by this
|
| |
tonite and call the police were both fantastic singles and american dream works much better in an album context, y'all crazy
|
| |
Yeah i really dug both Tonite and Police.

I wish they would release just an instrumental version of their records, so I don't have to hear Murphy either whispering or screaming over everything. Album is decent but probably a grower

I had to interrupt me listening due to wife coming home, this is back on. Yep I still dig.

Will say ahead of my bad rev, this is leagues better than This is Happening but doesn't compare to the first two

A bit longer than it needs to be, but still pleased with it after first listen. American dream and emotional haircut are great, last song is dull af though.
