What a song "Pain" is, I was really getting into it in the car a few hours ago. This album is not much new but still nearly as good as LitD, with some of their best tracks to date.

Can confirm is indeed a song.

This is a solid 4 on first listen but I have no doubt this album will be a massive grower.

I'm nervous to listen to this, the singles didn't do much for me but I loved their last record
Will listen this weekend regardless of how much I want to play Science Fiction on an endless loop...

Might be a grower, but this left me disappointed. Doesn't have the energy of his previous, sadly.

Excellent Rudy! My expectations were probably astronomical coming in, but nonetheless it's fantastic

Granduciel makes this look so easy. Write homogeneous (usually) open road tracks, and they're always amazing

Fantastic album. On first spin it feels like I just turned over the lost in the dream record... and in no way is that a bad thing. Feels like it refines and builds upon that same style. What a great month for music

So this is gorgeous. The first couple tracks seemed bland and way too try-hard, but then it comes together and kills it for the rest of the runtime.
Will have to spin this a few more times.

Thinking of a Place could be my favorite song of the decade. It's just so fantastically transportive and evocative and perfectly measured across its 11 minutes. I almost wish the album ended there, because while the last three songs are still amazing in their own right, they feel like afterthoughts compared to Thinking of a Place.

¡QUé HERMOSO! ¡UN SOLO DE LA GUITARRA DEL MASTODONTE!

Great review. This record is soooooo close to being on par with Lost in the Dream. So damn close.
Also, *Kozelek
