because its a collection of outtakes, with some live tracks and alternative versions and stuff

Yeah, but none were recorded during the 80s. And it was released a few years after Bonham died. And some of the tracks are part live recordings. Therefore, it's not always considered an actual Zeppelin studio-album among fans

well, the band, the record label, and many fans (myself included) consider it an actual zeppelin studio album.

Dominion: Well, that's fair enough I guess. But those are the reasons why some won't consider it an actual Zeppelin studio

Weakest album by the band. The album is driven by keyboards and synth.

Fool In The Rain gets annoying after 3 minutes. Not like it's a solid song in the first place.

Carouselambra is another a track that drags on way too long.

Hot Dog does not mesh with the rest of the album.

Did Robert Plant and John Paul Jones have too much control over this album? Probably, but it's not like Page had any inspiration left (or music to steal).

i find this underrated. doesn't have a standout like Achilles but i reckon it's stronger overall than Presence. couple of cheesy synth moments like the back half of Carouselambra or the solo in All My Love and one or two songs drag a bit but it's pretty sweet.

there's no Kashmir or Immigrant Song or Since I've Been Loving You here but it's pretty solid. definitely doesn't rock as hard.

if you like the variety of III and HOTH, and aren't anti-synth you might dig
