The swastika stuff is petty and off-putting but not ever in the same plane of sexual harassment and shaming other queer people.

glad we all agree. i'm still holding out for more evidence though...

same here, I really hope Ben says something.
|
| |
they responded; article on pitchfork
|
| |
Their response is all sorts of weird.
|
| |
wow so they didn't even bother taking accountability and actually asked the victims to come forward
fuck these guys
|
| |
Well this band is crashing and burning fast. Can't believe they thought it would be acceptable to ask victims to email them to further discuss the matter.
|
| |
Yeah it's shite
|
| |
I don't think a literal interpretation of "every queer artist" is what Snake meant. It's pretty obvious hyperbole.
|
| |
okay i just want to clarify that i wasn't being literal when i said "every"
also, how are situations like these not "real" issues? what the fuck constitutes "real" for you?

i'm scared to read their response

the way they phrased the entire facebook post screams guilty. idk man if ben really didn't do anything I feel like they would've made that more clear. the whole "survivor" thing is a bit ridiculous and also hypocrital (especially right after the "we live in a culture which trivializes and normalizes violations of consent")
|
| |
Also they allege it's a surprise when many people have claimed they've been contacting Liv and their manager for months. Sady Dupuis also confirmed she's known about the allegations for a while.

yeah seems like this is the beginning of a downfall for the band. it really is sad idk...especially considering how great and inspiring this album is
|
| |
guess I'm not gonna check this nor listen to I Wanna Boi in repeat any longer

"OK, y'all, knowing something is hyperbole does not negate the viciousness of the remark."
I'm not telling you how to feel, but it actually does somewhat negate the "viciousness" of the remark, in my opinion. If you know the person is exaggerating to make a point, you don't have to take the language used at face value. It was a shorthand, if ham fisted, way to say that these stories seem to be coming up a lot lately. No need to read too far into it and assign meanings beyond what Snake intended to say.
|
| |
my apologies if whatever i said was homophobic (looking back i really should've subsided on the hyperbole), when i said epidemic i was talking about within queer artists because that's the demographic of musicians that looks closer on these types of issues than anybody else, and that makes people within the LGBT+ community feel more vulnerable when stories like these surface because they start to trust them a lot less and they get a sense that there's simply nobody else that they can rely on for an outlet
|
| |
Oh no... what did I miss
I was gonna check this too...
|

I'm leaning towards believing the accusations, I thought their statement was absolutely guilty. The timing of the accusations could be percieved as an attempt to mess up their sales and relevance but I wholly doubt it.

I listened to Answer My Text. Not bad, though I really didn't like the line about the heart on silent mode lol. Not really my style, but it was catchy. I see the appeal.
