Poor review. If one reviews nostalgia, this would be superb, but being this a music forum, stick to the music. This album is superb.

Nah, the review is exponentially more enjoyable than the record it describes.

I'm sure it's been said already, but best summary ever.

Splendid concept review, although I disagree with this particular album's score. Personally, I find Pale Communion to be one of my top five favorite Opeth albums--although Heritage has, like, two good songs to its name, and Sorceress is dog shit.

@Rasputin: the length of time someone has been a member of a forum and their post count are shit metrics by which to judge the value of their words. What's-His-Nuts might have registered just to criticize the review, but that doesn't negate his/her right to self-expression.

lol wat

he called it a 'poor review', based on his shitty perception of what an ideal 'review' is. he's just another single-comment-fanboy making a baseless assertion, and should be called out for it. and you should loosen your panties a bit - negate his/her right to self-expression? this is the comment area under a satirical review of a popular album, he can say whatever he wants and so I can ;)

This is the best of the past three ''Regressive rock'' albums. Still, it's a 3.5/5 at best.

This, heritage, sorcessess.

Seeing these fuckers next month for the first time since their heritage tour where they literally didn't play a single heavy song. I drove 4 hours to see Mikael sing the entirety of Heritage. Hope they don't pull that kind of crap again.

Dude, it was the worst. I've looked up recent setlists and they seem to be playing their bangers again. Plus, Devin Townsend and Gojira are gonna be there so even if Opeth sucks shit you know they'll give er hell.

Heritage was a lifeless mess in my estimation. It went nowhere. This one seems more purposeful. Sorceress has more corny moments in it for me to enjoy it more than this (intro to the title track, for example)

Yeah I'm actually driving from GA to Colorado to see the show you're talking about. But even if their set is disappointing at least I'll get to do some hiking and see the scenery/denver

They at least played demon of the fall and grand conjuration when I saw them during the heritage/hunter tour.

Which were both really odd choices looking back, I dont get why they wouldnt prefer playing their more dynamic 70's prog aping metal tracks like baying of the hounds or hessian peel

I'll be at the Colorado gig as well! Hopefully they'll play a few deeper cuts. Demon of the Fall, The Grand Conjuration and Deliverance are all great, but it would be cool to hear some more obscure tracks.
