"this is horror punk btw. this has nothing to do with pop-punk."

I have no idea how anyone who actually listened to the record in question could come to this conclusion.

It's definitely not a pop punk album and I agree it has very little to do with pop punk

Yes, because pop punk and horror punk are such drastically different genres, it's like comparing hip hop to metal...

"I think it's because it's a nostalgia trip for some, it's been ages since a band from this scene have come out with a record that catches the flash in the pan that the punk scene was delivering 10-20 years ago. Not many punk bands in the current "Hot Topic" scene are delivering records of caliber with the likes of AFI, Alkaline Trio, Against Me!, MCR during their peaks and early years."

This rang so true to me. It gives me memories of when rock was a force to be reckoned with.

I mean, ever hear of the Misfits? They're essentially the poster children of Horror Punk, and their image is iconic.

I still think pop punk is a fitting tag, although I'd say punk rock at heart, all the bands they seem to emulate the most are punk rock at heart (AFI, Alkaline Trio, Aganist Me!, MCR)

I mean of course I know Misfits, but I don't think I've ever seen the term horror punk until today. Nevertheless, it's a fitting tag.
