thanks dewinged, I don't mind, just trying to give an opposing opinion about expanding horizons, I know I have my probs about newer music, but I at least listen to opinions about it, and give it a try, the prob with me about it is I hear everybody they are ripping off, the historian in me comes through, all day every day I have to listen to my students giving me new music, some is good some is bad, I always say, give it to me after they have 4-5 albums.

so that is the problem, it is a pretty tough break that kids thought this was punk first of all, and that is good respectable music second. Christ it is like saying Biz Markie got kids into hip hop

"yes Tuma that was the point, man are you gullable."
it's like you try to give me contradictory signals about your opinions because all your opinions point towards the fact that you have zero appreciation for modern music yet you keep constantly saying i don't have a sense of humor when i criticize your views on it. like what's really the point you wanna make?
"the prob with me about it is I hear everybody they are ripping off"
i dunno what kinda modern music you're listening to but this comment is crazy

yes all I hear when I listen to "modern" music is how they are catering to a premade audience, and the bands they are emulating
and yes get a sense of humor, who cares what my opinion is, "I'm an old man says" says everybody "who only like certain music" like rock, psych , metal, thrash, folk, blues, prog, doom, 60's british pop, old jazz, new jazz, jazz fusion, new wave, punk, hardcore, ambient, the dead, zappa, you know very closeminded
you know it could be you who is closed minded, and my point is to mess with you, it is very easy

i genuinely feel bad for you if this is what you think, you're limiting yourself and missing out on a lot with this mindset

"and my point is to mess with you, it is very easy"
that's what i thought. you might think i'm just a dumb teenager butthurt idiot but you aren't as smart as you think you are. i might come off as sensitive with my comments but i simply like having music conversations and be very passionate about them
"you know it could be you who is closed minded"
i never said anything bad about anything you listen to, nor did i ever claim your genre spectrum to be 'close-minded'. but if we take stars for the lid as an example for modern ambient, there is obviously a massive eno influence (who is an artist i assume you listen to when we talk about ambient) but calling them a rip-off is simply ignorant. that's what i call being close-minded

your right dude you never did, except to think I think punk should sound like the Ramones which is def. not true
and I don't think I said anything bad about "modern music" except that they emulate too much and cater to genre specific audiences, my personal pref. and the whole thing started with me saying this isn't a 5, and if this is your launch into punk, maybe you should other places instead, because I'm not sure if it even is punk. You guys took such a outragous reaction to it that I had to keep going just on principle, I've looked at many of your rating, and nothing is too bad, except pop punk that I am not to thrilled with
the hilarious thing Tuma is we give this album the same rating

"except to think I think punk should sound like the Ramones which is def. not true"
yeah that was an exaggeration but i you should get the point. and yes you technically only said that one bad thing about "modern music" but that's quite a strong opinion i'd say
"if this is your launch into punk, maybe you should other places instead, because I'm not sure if it even is punk"
why is it such a bad thing to have this as a launch into punk, even if it's very soft for the genre standards? this still has quite clear elements of punk and for a lot of people gateway albums like this are needed to give further understanding of the genre and there's nothing wrong about that
and yeah it's kinda funny we've had such heated arguments itt considering we have a veyr similar general opinion on this particular album
