well it is an outtake from dead petz and was originally a faster, more upbeat song that they didn't like and got bored with

America's great
a bit let down by On Lankershim and On a Hill being a bit short and on the underdeveloped side
starts strong, middle kinda drags, last two songs are strong
solid 4 tbh

also wtf how is there still 2 ratings for it even though it's been leaked for over a week?
Star Power must've really killed them

it's a brief but solid record, i just love the glam rock revivalism and the shades of fleetwood mac and what not, album is unbelievably lush.
also yeah dude i don't know i hope it gains due attention. i never gave star power a full listen, is it interesting enough to go through?

I'm planning to check the Foxygen (mostly due to Fripp's hype tbh) but I don't listen to leaks. I didn't listen to ...And Star Power but it was pretty much universally panned which will definitely end up hurting them in the future.

it has some solid songs on it, but it's overly drawn out and France/Rado kinda just sound bored on a good deal of it
it's their attempt at aping Todd Rundgren (especially his Something/Anything? record, which follows a similar format)
Hang kinda sheds the psych pop stuff for American theater, vaudeville, glam
France really sounds like he's trying to be Mick Jagger and Tim Curry on a lot of it, and it ranges from being great to annoying but it works in context of the album and the arrangements.

i'd still like to see if there was something worthwhile to it for myself but i also don't wanna waste my time

just check the singles from it and you'd be fine
as well as the song they did with the flaming lips on that record, check that as well

Avalon is probably my favorite because it sounds like a third rate Rocky Horror tune that goes way overboard on sounding like some rag time nonsense, but it's catchy (and possibly rips off "Baby Love" for its chorus)

my fav is probably america because of the heavy theatrical buttfuckery, but it's all pretty slick

as long as you agree On a Hill is by far the weakest song on the album
really what was the point of that song, it really came across as a underdeveloped showtune meant to be a segue into Trauma (though if they stuck with the slight sinatra vibe the first thirty seconds of it had, it would've been cool)

the song symbolizes my one complaint i have about the record at large and it's just that a few tracks feel undercooked and it's a really short record, like really fucking short. i want the ambition of star power with the sound of hang.

Based on what you guys are saying it sounds like I'm either going to adore or detest Hang, I can't really tell which lol I'm excited to hear it though

I really fucking hate musicals and Hang is like a big flamboyant musical (well, the band actually described it as going to Disneyland)
i don't know what to tell you man (plus it's like 32 minutes)
